About Us

Your Life – Your Lawyers

Edmonds Judd is one of the Waikato’s longest-established legal firms, tracing its history back to the first legal practitioner in Te Awamutu, Thomas Gresham, who practised in the 1880s. In its present form it was created in 1987 through the merger of Edmonds Dodd and Judd Brown.

The firm’s offices are located at The Powerhouse, 486 Alexandra Street, Te Awamutu, and 142 Maniapoto Street, Otorohanga.

Edmonds Judd currently comprises five Partners and over thirty staff. The firm places emphasis on professional development of staff, to ensure quality advice.

Whilst the majority of the firm’s clients live in rural Waikato, our long-term relationships and our special expertise in areas of law such as farm sales result in us having many valued and loyal clients across the length and breadth of New Zealand, our ability to service this wider constituency being enhanced by our commitment to modern technology and communications.

A Member of NZ Law

NZ Law is a nationwide association of independent legal practices, proactively sharing ideas, expertise, and resource for the benefit of our clients.

There are currently 57 member firms practising in a wide range of legal disciplines ranging from business law, home buying and selling, immigration law and intellectual property to aviation law and viticulture.

The group was established in 1992 when about five law firms met in Auckland to find a way to benefit their clients by replicating the conviviality and the sharing of ideas and expertise that occurs in larger law firms, but still be able to retain client confidentiality and their own independence and without the incurring expensive overheads.
