Jadin Hooper

About Me

Joining Edmonds Judd in January 2025, Jadin brings with him almost a decade of experience with finding resolutions to all kinds of legal problems for his clients.

Growing up in Waipa, Jadin attended Cambridge High School before graduating from the University of Waikato in 2018 with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Science. During his studies he was a founding member of the Waikato Mooting Society, a member of WULSA, and represented the University of Waikato at several national and Australasian mooting competitions.

Since then, he has brought his skills to his practice in resolving disputes, including in employment law (for both employers and employees), relationship property, trust and estate disputes, and commercial/consumer disputes. His informative approach helps clients understand their options, opportunities, risks and the realities of litigation (or alternative) options.

Outside of work Jadin enjoys a quiet life in Hamilton with his partner Sharelle and their dog Freddy. He is passionate about coffee, travel and history podcasts. As a self-professed geek, he is always on the lookout for a good book (especially golden age sci-fi) or boardgame.

Career Highlights:

• Successfully defending an application for interim measures seeking to remove our client from farmland in the context of a commercial arbitration: Jellick v Perrett [2025] NZHC 929;
• Obtaining costs award for defence from the interim measures application: Jellick v Perrett [2025] NZHC 2405;
• Successful application for costs for third party discovery in a commercial arbitration;
• Application for PPPR Act orders for welfare guardian and property manager in a family dispute;
• Resolving relationship property proceedings involving significant property, companies and trusts;
• Effective and efficient procedural applications to validate wills, including Webber [2026] NZHC 2289;
• Obtaining orders for variation of historic compensation trust: Re William Manukau Compensation Trust [2025] NZHC 2706;
• Negotiating resolution to client’s claim for a share in the family home and a share from spouse’s deceased estate;
• Successful application for orders enforcing a s21A relationship property agreement in the Family Court;
• Representing trustees in various High Court and Family Court matters, including successful summary judgment application to remove trustee/executor: Brdanovic v Vogelbein [2025] NZHC 3475;
• Appearance at commercial mediations involving (among other matters) resolution of employee/shareholder disputes, employment mediations, and commercial disputes;
• Representing community objectors in Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act licensing applications;
• Assisting clients with contractual and commercial disputes through negotiation, tribunals, and Court applications.
